Yesterday marked the end of an era as after almost 2 years on the North York Moors the “Seated Man” has moved onto his new home. The fantastic statue created by Sean Henry will be taking up residence at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park in Wakefield where visitors can still go and see him for free.
Just prior to the move taking place we were contacted by a group of elderly ladies who requested our help……..
They were hoping our gamekeepers could help them visit the statue before it was moved so we duly obliged. We transported all the ladies up the moor on the 9th April, it was a very windy day but they all really enjoyed themselves and took lots of photos of the occasion. The positioning of the “seated man” gave visitors the chance to also take in some fantastic views and these were also appreciated by the visiting ladies. We received lots of lovely comments thanking the keepers and one particular one stood out “thank you for giving us an opportunity that we never thought could happen”. After a morning out on the moors the keepers were invited by the ladies to join them for bacon sandwiches, I think everyone had worked up an appetite.
Some of us take for granted what we have on our own doorsteps, but to help others enjoy what we get to enjoy every day is really worthwhile.
