Raptor Persecution Awareness Day at Goathland

The Northern England Raptor Forum (NERF) held their Raptor Persecution awareness day yesterday at Goathland in the North York Moors.

This was a free, drop-in event with guest speakers which was attended by our  Gamekeepers, who took a display focussing on the success of various raptors and was very well received.  Sadly there wasn’t a great turnout at the event, possibly down to the bad weather.

The link below gives an insight into the Hen Harrier brood management scheme which has been developed to help increase numbers.

The 2019 Hen Harrier facts show that 47 chicks have raised from 12 successful nests in England, of which 11 of these nests were on moors managed for grouse shooting.
