NYMMO & NGO Charity Clay Shoot

The NYYMO & NGO ran charity clay shoot was held at Spaunton Quarry on Saturday 11th June by kind permission of Mr George Winn Darley.  We had an excellent day, a great raffle, good entries and the weather held out which was a real bonus.

There was a good turnout of people, 23 teams and 27 individuals as well as a great deal of entries in the pool shoot.

The overall winning 4 man team was “Adam Calvert Shooting” with team members Andy Coulson, Jonathan Maughan, Gareth Maund and Roger Ayton who with a score of 365 beat by the smallest of margins (1 clay) the Ousby team of Mike Booth, Pete Henderson, Andrew Morrow and James Watson.  Third prize went to the “Dream Team” of John Hutchinson, Mark Nicholson, Philip Blakeborough and Steve Midgely with a score of 334.

The top individual of the day with a perfect score of 50 went to Gareth Maund who won a days shooting standing on a keepers day.  Top of the ladies board was Katie Carvey with a score of 40 who accepted a £50.00 cheque as a prize thanks to L&A Dent game dealers.  The Under 25 winner with a score of 47 went to Declan McVeigh who received a 3 shot automatic shotgun courtesy of Northallerton Guns.

We held an excellent raffle on the day which made £682.00 and I’m sure the ticket sales were so high due to the vast array of real quality and varied prizes that had been very kindly donated.  George, Jill and Abi Thompson also kindly ran the bar selling both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and the £384.00 proceeds from there also went straight into the fund.

We’d just like to say thank you to all the helpers, supporters, entrants and everyone involved in making this day the great success that it was.

From the clay shoot we have raised £2,386.50 for the Air Ambulance and this total will hopefully be increased greatly when our 31 auction lots conclude on the 12th August.  Our auction lots can be found on our website www.nymmo.org and also on our facebook page, we have a vast array of lots from shooting, stalking, fishing to Alastair Cook’s cricket bat signed by the England team, a holiday cottage stay, a glamping pod, a framed picture and much much more.  Please take a look at all we’ve got to offer and BID GENEROUSLY.

Again thank you to everyone who made this clay shoot possible, especially Sarah from the NGO for all her help and expertise.

Please come and visit us at our next outing where we will be joining the NGO at their stand at the Great Yorkshire Show at Harrogate on the 12th, 13th and 14th July.
