Lets Learn Moor is a brilliant initiative involving some real big hitters that are constantly working together to make the countryside what it is and educate as to why it is so priceless.
NYMMO Gamekeepers, BASC North, Countryside Learning, National Gamekeepers Organisation, North York Moors National Park, Hawk & Owl Trust, North Yorkshire Fire Services, North Yorkshire Police, Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue and local farmer Luke.
Education is a key message that NYMMO works very hard to promote and I think the whole team enjoys these school days as much as the visiting children. HANDS ON is the way forward and these children got to use the floggers, water sprayers, work with gun dogs, pet the sheep and sheepdogs amongst lots of other exciting activities.
Learning about the beautiful countryside we live in and how it is maintained is so important and who said learning isn’t fun!
“The best school visit ever”
“Can we be first on the list for next year”.
“Our School would like to say a special thank you for the best school trip ever” “Just want to say what a fantastic day we had. The activities were brilliant and the children got a lot out of it, learning about things that are not often considered even though we are surrounded by this beautiful countryside. I asked the children to go home and tell their parents at least one thing that they had learnt and I had some super feedback from the parents the next day. A very worthwhile day out and even us as adults leant something new. We worked on their favourite activity the next day and the children came up with some fantastic reasons why.
Please keep our school informed as to any other days. I couldn’t wait to tell the other classes what they had missed, so hopefully we will have more classes attending next year”
With comments like these we must be doing something right so we’ve got lots to live up to as the planning begins now for Lets Learn Moor 2019.
