NYMMO were stationed inside the Country Pursuits Marquee with the National Gamekeepers Organisation and to date this was the busiest Yorkshire Show we have attended. The Gamekeepers were kept very busy answering questions, talking through moorland management procedures, explaining how traps work and very importantly selling socks. The NYMMO embroidered Shooting Socks and Shuttle Socks have been launched this year to raise funds for our moorland group and they are certainly a top drawer seller.
“A Year In The Life Of A Grouse Moor” was again a resounding success, led by John Cavana the display was performed twice daily in the Country Pursuits Arena with keepers and their helpers which they gathered up from the audience on the day. The children in each display performed brilliantly, waving flags, keeping a straight beating line, and listening intently to the keepers instructions, they were then all rewarded with a goodie bag.
Day 2 of the show was extra special as we had a Royal visitor Her Royal Highness Princess Anne came to chat with the keepers and watch the display, to which she gave great praise.
To summarise an excellent show, good to catch up with old friends, make new acquaintances, and hopefully leave having educated many more individuals, so a job well done!
